“Freedom comes from doing what you were made to do.”
Every person lives by an underlying framework or worldview—a lens through which we interpret our purpose, make decisions, and evaluate right from wrong. In this week’s message, we explored how the Scriptures provide a clear, liberating framework for our lives by looking at three ultimate realities present before creation: God, Love, and Darkness.

The creation account, describing the earth as formless and dark, the Spirit hovering over the waters, and God speaking light into existence.
- New Testament: John 1:1–5, 14
The opening of John’s Gospel, describing the Word (Jesus) who was with God in the beginning, through whom all things were made, and who became flesh to dwell among us full of grace and truth.

- God: Understanding Design and Purpose
Believing in God means acknowledging that human existence is not accidental—we are created intentionally. Just as an object (like a tool or a knife) functions best when used for its original design, human value, morality, and true direction flow directly from living according to God’s intended design for us.
- Love: Relationship and True Freedom
Before creation existed, God existed as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a relationship defined by mutual honor, glorification, and self-sacrificing love (agape). Creation was brought into being so that we could share in that love.
- At our core, our primary purpose is to live in loving, self-sacrificing relationships with God and others.
- True freedom is not living without boundaries or God, but rather walking effortlessly in the exact purpose for which you were created—much like an eagle gliding effortlessly in the sky.
- Darkness: Staying Centered in the Word
Darkness and chaos represent disorder. When we drift away from Jesus as the Word of God, life naturally begins to unravel into confusion and chaos. However, as we align our lives with God’s revelation, His Spirit drives out darkness and restores order, clarity, and peace.
The Centerpiece: Looking to the Cross
At the cross, all three ultimate realities meet:
- God’s Sacrificing Love displayed for humanity.
- Jesus entering into Darkness by taking our sin upon Himself.
- God’s Light and Life overcoming chaos to offer us freedom and righteousness.

Instead of striving in our own strength to fix life’s chaos, take time this week to reflect on the cross. Allow God’s Spirit to bring order, light, and purpose back into your daily routine as you align your life with His truth.
